About Credit Unions
What are Credit Unions?
Credit unions are member-owned, not-for-profit financial institutions that offer many of the same services as banks, such as savings accounts, loans, and credit cards. What makes them different is that every member is also a part-owner, with a voice in how the credit union is run. Instead of focusing on profits, credit unions return earnings to their members through lower fees, better interest rates, and programs that support the community. Their main goal is to help people improve their financial well-being and make a positive impact where they live and work.
